Help with a marketing plan please!!?

Is it okay to write a marketing plan for a whole industry. Where the main aim is to "develop the industry" e.g. bread industry. Or for a marketing plan is it always on a specific company with a specific product in mind?

We were asked to write a marketing plan and the lecturer did not really elaborate on how we’re suppose to do it. He just gave us the bread industry and pretty much didnt say anything. I sort of just made it on how we will develp new zealand’s bread industry (im from new zealand). Is that okay do you reckon? Im pretty worried that we were meant to choose a specific company to do our marketing plan on. But he didnt really say anything. I handed it in already but my God im shitting myself about the mark ill get back.

You can make marketing plans for whole industry, but its highly unusual. From what the lecturer said I understand that he meat to base it for a company. Assume that you have capital to start up a business related to bread, think of how you will market that business. How would you establish it? How would you deal with existing competitors who are already established and you are just a new comer? How’s your business different from others? How strategic is your location? What are the market segments and which is your target market? How likely is that you will succeed in your business? Sources of finance? What if things dont go as expected? how long will it take to recover investment? How much profit will it generate? and so on…
