  1. Jon Weston says:

Is this for university? Shouldn’t they tell you how to do it before they give you an assignment?

Robert Middleton will send you a marketing plan toolkit for signing up with your email.

NOTE: I am in no way affiliated with Robert Middleton, this is a recommendation based on my own opinion about the quality of the free information he’s offering from his website.

If you’re not keen to sign up to that, here’s my own (very, very brief) thoughts for you from a small business standpoint:

The plan needs to be a document that anyone in the company can easily obtain access to, and easily UNDERSTAND and EMPLOY.
It needs to apply to EVERYONE, not just the sales and marketing people.
It needs to explain who your ideal customers are.
It must include an examination of competition, so that…
It can explain what positioning the company CURRENTLY has, and what perceptions exist in the market place about it NOW.
It must then explain what positioning you WANT, and how the company will achieve that.
It must outline who is responsible for what, and how results will be measured.
    It must be regularly updated.

    Good luck.
